In almost all MMORPGs, a skill called “heal” exists. And this useful ability can be in different classes and various purposes; it can be dedicated to heal one’s self, another player in the game or a team mate.
Heal skill can be classified into many types: channeled heal, direct heal, group heal, group HoT (heal over time), reactive heal, spread heal, vampiric heal and some improved heal skills even have additional effects. These healing abilities can be very useful if you use it properly. But which of these skills is the best?
The best Heal ability that I’ve ever encountered cannot be found anywhere and in any game… because it is the MMORPG itself. It goes beyond being able to use heal skill to the best advantage in the game, but how an MMORPG was able to bring a fading soul back to life -- how this modern medium of entertainment was able to save a boy from becoming trapped in a world limited by his illness and refusing to live by the boundaries it set.
It has been almost half a decade now since he was diagnosed with his curse; the smile on his face was replaced with sadness and regret. He chose to live his life alone as if the world turned its back on him, never to see the bright side of life again. He accepted his fate in a way that prevented him from enjoying the life that many of us take for granted. READ MORE
Spending Wisely in MMORPGs: F2P or P2P?
Posted by Irie Rastafari in Spending Wisely in MMORPG: F2P or P2P?
Are you a hardcore gamer who prefers free to play MMORPG? Or the one who thinks subscription fees for MMORPGs are long term investments? There is no doubt that the F2P (Free to Play) MMORPG’s market is growing rapidly compared to P2P (Pay to Play) MMORPGs today. Given that scenario, gamers are enjoying the option whether to go P2P or F2P given the wide range of choices from free, to pay to play mmos.
F2P games nowadays are not the typical “good for a free game” but rather highly competitive like any other P2P games in the market. They offer games with no subscription fees and can be played anytime which is a good marketing strategy to compete with P2P MMORPGs.
Being a free game, getting the desired number of players is not a problem for F2P publishers. All they need to do is to make the game interesting and fix any bugs and exploits as soon as possible to maintain the quantity of their subscribers. F2P developers/publishers earn profit by selling virtual items through an item mall or offering premium subscriptions (X2 experience/drop rate etc.) for a specific time, but still, it is not required to pay to be able to play the game.
The main issue in F2P is the balance of the game, it is common that some financially well-off players will dish out several hundred bucks just to get strong and pawn other players in the game, which really suck for a normal gamer or for some “wise-spender” in the F2P world. Also, Free MMORPGs are prone to spammers and scammers; anyone can join and create a new account making an annoying and negative impact to the F2P world. But none the less, it is still free; anyone can still experience a decent MMORPG without the subscription fee.
On the other hand, P2P MMORPGs that requires a weekly/monthly subscription before one can play are having a hard time going up against the less expensive F2P games. The pressure is so intense that they need to come up with READ MORE
From Experience: Pros and Cons of playing MMORPG
Posted by Irie Rastafari in From Experience: Pros and Cons of playing MMORPG
In everything that we do, there are always pros and cons.. advantages and disadvantages. Just like in playing MMORPG, there are lots of "pros" and of course there are always consequences alongside with it. I strongly believe that playing MMORPGs is one of the worthwhile activities that anyone can enjoy in the virtual world, but just like any other activities.. it require caution and should not be abused.
One of the best thing that I experienced in my MMORPG life is when I interact with other players, sharing thoughts and knowledge in-game and in real life which results in learning new things that can enhance my gaming experience and my real life as well. For almost 10 years of my MMORPG career, I can say that if players play wisely, it can be a good ventilation of stress and boredom for them especially if they need to relax and no time to go outdoors. But if you played too much, it will reverse the result and you can be stressed like you lost a million bucks in a Casino. So manage your time well and don't get too attached to your character.
If there is best, of course there's worst.. I remember my friend once told me "if you get too attached to something, there is a strong possibility that you may lose something in return", and he was right.

I'm a hardcore gamer since childhood, from family computers to playstation generation.. but in year 2001, I got hooked up with MMORPGs and that made me look "Gaming" in a different perspective.
For years, a long debate has raged between Game developers, "gold sellers" and even players (who are anti or pro RMT) about the legality of Real Money Trading (RMT) and its impacts on games especially on it's economy and stability.
Many people that are new in this kind of thing strongly believe that RMT is bad, that it goes against game rules and participating in RMT is being unfair to other gamers who are almost losing their real life just to get strong in-game.
Publisher EULA (end-user license agreement) states that in-game items are virtually treated as a personal property, but are only recognized as "information goods" and the right of ownership of these goods belongs to the developers and players have the right to use, as conferred by the terms of service so the gamers have no rights to sell those items for real money.
"Selling a virtual item to someone for real money is said to constitute an infringement of publisher property rights. Anti-RMT groups claim that RMT floods the market with excess currency and causes inflation." WhichI strongly disagree, how come that there will be inflation if the currencies were obtained legally in-game? And those currencies being sold by the players or big gold selling companies are obtained by hours of farming.. they are not hacking the program itself to produce a "duped" (duplicated) currency.. so where is the inflation in there? it's just a normal cycle in my opinion.
As for the infringement of copyrights is concerned, players or gold sellers are NOT selling virtual gold LITERALLY.. lets look at it this way.. the player who are selling gold spent also real money for the electricity bill, game-time cards and not to mention hours of effort to earn what he deserve in-game, in short.. he invested. So in return, if by any chance that he wanted to get back some of his investment he can transfer it to another player and ask something in return.. and let's not treat that as if he is selling the rights of that virtual goods to that player.. instead, he is just TRANSFERRING it in goodwill and asking for monetary compensation. So, did he infringe the copyrights? did he sell the codes or something?
In any other real life services like plumbing, house keeping etc.. people pay them for that services, in short.. people are paying for services that they are not capable of doing or they do not want to do. So if someone don't have the time to power level his character in a game.. he/she will pay for power leveling services that some gold selling company offers.. is that a crime? does that infringe the game copyrights? how is RMT any different?
I understand that some RMT companies use hacks and DO negatively impact the games. There are good and bad people in all walks of life. The solution is to support RMT companies that operate with strong ethics and honest business practices, those that offer fair pricing, provide real guarantees, practice high levels of customer services, and have good channels for complaints. And there is a particular RMT company that I think has a good potential.. which is Gamerce they just started but their ways of RMT is interesting because they are not selling goods themselves but they act as a middleman. just think of E-BAY MMORPG Style. That way even a simple player who also invests money and time can also participate in this kind of business.
To end this long post :D, there is no law that prohibits the sale of RMT services. I’m a proponent for fair trade, free markets and the convenience of RMT. I don’t like monopolies which are what the current Game developers promotes, they are just pissed that they cannot profit from RMT themselves. I want the FREEDOM to spend my time and money as I choose. So guys what do you think about this? again, lets be open minded when it comes to this matter.

MMORPG - RMT vs Developers Endless Waltz
Posted by Irie Rastafari in MMORPG - RMT vs Developers Endless Waltz
Hi guys, It's been a while since I discussed RMT here in my blog.. well it's been a long debate for over a decade now and until now developers are still against it because they are claiming that in-game items are virtually treated as personal property, but are only legally recognized as information goods, the right of ownership of these goods belongs to the developers, and players have a right to use, as conferred by the terms of service. Oh well who will agree if they cannot gain anything from it right?
Well, as I am surfing the net searching for some news about the present situation of the Virtual Community and the long battle against RMT.. one article caught my attention and I really think that every gamer must see it and have a healthy debate about it.. so here it is:
"This article questions the legal status of Real Money Trading (RMT) in MMORPGs. Noting that in-game items are virtually treated as personal property, but are only legally recognized as information goods, the right of ownership of these goods belongs to the developers, and players have a right to use, as conferred by the terms of service.
I argue that the object of RMT is neither the item itself nor the right to use the item, but rather something entirely distinct one - 'play values', and the monetary compensation is a 'gwonri-geum' (goodwill) payment. This analysis makes an analogy between the transfer of goodwill and RMT, where the transfer is not a purchase of an item or the right to use, but rather a payment for the effort the other party has invested in obtaining the item. On this analysis, RMT does not concern the operator any more than sales of goodwill concern the lesser of a business property. READ MORE "
comments are highly appreciated.. lets open our minds about this.
Why do people buy virtual goods in MMOs?
Posted by Irie Rastafari in Why do people buy virtual goods in MMOs?
Massively multiplayer online gamers spend hours -- so many hours -- working towards obtaining virtual gear. Epic armor sets, mounts, player housing, faction ships... the list goes on, and will continue to go on. Our collective fascination with these intangibles ensures our desire for them -- and for those things beyond a player's reach solely within the virtual realm, real world cash makes all things possible.
This is the research focus of Ph.D. student Vili Lehdonvirta of the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology, who breaks down our buyer's impulse according to three criteria:
Functional attributes, such as speed, hitpoints, teleportation.
Rohan online: Refining Tips [deleveling to 17 levels]
Posted by Irie Rastafari in Rohan:Quest Guide [level 40]
What is Level Refine?
Level Refine:
1. You can select to delevel an item by 1, 2, or 3 levels.
2. Each level down attempt costs the sale price of the item multiplied by the number of levels you wish to refine it, level 3 refine however costs 4x the sale price:
a. Item sale price = 1000, Delevel 1 level = 1000 2 levels = 2000 3 levels = 4000
3. If an item is de-leveled more than 15 levels, the next failed refining attempt will cause the item to break. IT WILL DISAPPEAR!
4. If a level refine attempt fails, the number you attempted to refine will be added back onto the weapon’s level. This number cannot exceed the item’s normal level though.
a. With a level 99 item, failing a refine at 99 will not add levels to the item.
b. With the same level 99 item, failing a level 3 refine at level 92 will add 3 levels to bring the item back to 95.
Now take note on case number 3, It saids that if you delevel more than 15 levels the item have a chance to break...
For example: You have an Enchanted Edwin armor which is a level 86 armor deleveled to level 71. If you delevel it any further and fail, it will break and you will lose it forever.
However, this is not the case if it's only deleveled to 72 (14 levels). If that's the case, you can delevel it by 3 more levels and it won't break since it's not on the 15 level safepoint. If you fail, it only goes back to 75. If you succeed on level 3 however, you can equip it at level 69. So there, you just have yourself an item 17 levels lower.
Thanks to Midnightstar of iRohan for the tip!
A path to Dragon Sage [Dekan Dragon Sage Quest Guide]
Posted by Irie Rastafari in Rohan: Dragon Sage Quest Guide

Okay guys here goes the Dragon Sage Quest Guide:
1. Starting point - Haem in Rev Deca castle
2. Speak to Talia - Bindstone Downstream of Shamar River in Armenes/Rev Deca map (Coordinates: D8)
3. After speaking to Talia, go to Black Dragon Sanctuary click at the Statue of Wailing Dragon in Geizan (Coordinates: C9)
4. After that, Go see Keeper of Dragon Eyes - Guliermo at Dragon Eyes Bindstone in Via Marea (Coordinates: F2)
5. Return to Rev Deca and speak to Haem
6. Find the youngest child in Rev Deca - (Perisada is located just outside the Rev Deca castle not town; left side of the castle)
7. Go to Crystal Quarry - Kill the Phoenix Croief (located by the portal leading to the second lvl of Crystal Quarry)
8. Return to Rev Deca and speak to Haem
9. Talk to Rivyn's Conscience - location: Del Lagos - north central (Coordinates: F|G 2)
10. Find Sign of Sepa Rosa - location: Aevraum (Coordinates: C9 at top of the tower) go to Gathering Hall and ride your mount to Aevraum.
11. Go to Altar of Late King - Ferdinant's Mausoleum location:Armenes/Rev Deca Map (Coordinates: G8)
12. Return to Rev Deca and speak to Haem
13. Go to Armenes Altar; speak with Atiya - location: Armenes/Rev Deca Map (Coordinates: G5 Tip: use infernal tower portal stone)
14. Okay all the running is talking is done and lets get into the real thing. You can ask some of your friends or guildmates for assistance coz this may take a lot of effort especially if your armor is not that good and you are an int build dekan.
- Go to Black Dragon Sanctuary (Geizan C9)- go to the last room west when you see the Shard of Baron Victor Vlen (BOSS) - you will pass through a long hallway with serpent pillagers, then will see serpent outlaws standing outside the doors to room where the Baron is (when you see these you are very close). Enter room where Baron is, go left and stay next to the wall to avoid his wrath. Go down a small ramp/hallway where you will see a large pot in the room, (leave party at this point if you have any) and double click the pot. The horseman will appear and he's no problem 1 on 1. Help may be needed to keep all the mobs off of you. Also, in this room of the BDS, a mini boss spawns (the white wolf Violence Mahopatew or something like that). If the boss is there, quickly open the pot then everyone attack the boss, if you die you can return and the horseman will be standing there and can be pulled into the hallway with a range attack thus avoiding the mobs and the boss. You should obtain a Spillproof Basin on killing horseman once.
- Go to Caronia's Tomb (Varvylan J6) - map of Caronia's Tomb is same as BDS so go to the same room as below. If in a party, withdraw before opening the pot. Kill horseman and obtain the Dryproof Basin.
After that you are good as done!
15. Return to Armenes Altar - speak with Atiya (Armenes/Rev Deca G5)
16. Obtain Scale of Armenes - Look for the Sluggish Wave (location: Armenes/Rev Deca north shore of F2) There you will see 4 mobs but no worries, they are all lvl 1.
17. Return to Armenes Altar - Atiya will send you to Haem where you will be officially changed.
and poof! you are a Dragon Sage.. (take note: you need to be at lvl 54 to be in evolve mode so no Dragon form at the moment) :P
So there hope you liked it guys.. special thanks to exalt for the inputs:

Alright I'm back online from a 3 day holy week vacation :D To start with my post I spent almost my 3 days in rohan (philippines) grinding to reach lvl50 mark.. starting at level 43.. so what do you think guys? did I make it? hehehe okay here's the story.
DAY 1
I'm a pure vit build dekan lvl 43 at that time and I purchased a 3-day x2 exp (solo) package to enhance my gaming experience then I jumped at Infernal Tower to grind killing orc warriors and guards in the process.. as I was grinding I noticed some bots and some players grinding along with me and I played it cool not PK'ing the bots as long as they are not KS'ing or looting other players.. I grinded for a whole day and I reached lvl 47 :D
DAY 2
I did'nt slept at all so i did'nt notice that it's my 2nd day of grinding already :D and I'm starting to get tired of soloing because the exp is not that good anymore.. luckily, my guildmate invite me for a party in Rahkon 1 (dungeon with lvl 48-50+ monsters) and they have x2 party scroll package and I bought a x2 party m.kill so that rocks! heheh I spent my whole day grinding then I reached lvl 49.. unfortunately, there is a 1 hour maintenance that day so our party got disbanded.. and I decided to sleep. :D
Day 3
I only slept for 2 hours then I'm off again to grinding.. at first since the server just went up.. there are only few players online so I decided to do some quests and from there I met a player that is actually forming a party at rahkon 1 again! yey!! so there i grinded till morning again and reached level 52 and it's time for my CHANGEJOB quest! (I chose Dragon Sage) :P

In any MMORPG with a tradeable currency system and the ability to get really good and cool stuff with that currency, there will be people trying to sell it outside the game. Also, with any game that has a difficult levelling system (such as World of Warcraft) or something to unlock (like Jedi in classic Star Wars Galaxies) there will be people trying to sell accounts that are max level or unlocked. People will try to use the game to make money in real life, and they will try to take advantage of the players of the MMORPG. No matter how many accounts are banned, currency selling is still a major business in almost every MMORPG, with a few exceptions.
The question remains: Why use banning waves to try and get rid of these activities instead of just shutting them down when you find them? I can't count the number of times I've seen and reported botters and people selling currency in-game. I can count the number of times those accounts were banned: zero. I have a habit of adding the botter to my friends list to see when they get banned, and have yet to see an account go grey for more than a day. Even after massive bans, they usually are still there (and still botting in the same areas). So why release these huge ban waves that don't really even do anything?... read more

2009 will be a great year for MMORPGs because of all the exciting announcements and upcoming releases. Everybody will be looking for the next MMORPG to take on Blizzard’s goliath “World of Warcraft”. Here are 10 of the currently most anxious MMORPG for the gamers of this genre:
1. Darkfall Online
Release: Euro Launch Jan 22nd, 2009
Status: Beta
Before you think to yourself “Oh look another WoW clone” you have to read the long list of features of this game. Real-time combat with first person shooter style. Check. Complete looting. Meaning all of players items are lootable by another player upon death. Check. Mounted combat. Check. Naval Warfare. DOUBLE CHECK! The list is pretty long on the features they have set up for this game. Lets all just hope Aventuring SA can deliver what they say and if not then we are looking at another Age of Conan clone. (I hope you all know how that went)
2. DC Universe Online
Release: Late 2009
Status: Development
Sony Online’s Austin studio will be creating this game with Jim Lee as the Executive Creative Director and other comic writers. Already the demo version of the game looks really nice and have a lot of major superheroes in the game. You can create your character from scratch or choose one of your favorite superheroes or villians and the game will generate a close resemblence to the hero or villian you choose. One thing I am worrying about and that is will it end up being like that other superhero game. (*cough* City of Heroes)
3. A.P.B
Release: TBA 2009
Status: Development
Like Grand Theft Auto series? Ever wish it can become a MMORPG? Well, developer of GTA David Jones heard your cries. A GTA style MMORPG in real time environment pitting against gangs and police. You as the player must choose to be either the law breakers or law enforcers. There are missions in the game so you can earn money to upgrade your weapons and other needs for your character. The mission for gang members will be to rob a grocery store while the police will try to stop them. Not much has been leaked about this game, but David said beta is already on its way. So keep an eye out for this one.
4. The Agency
Release: TBA 2009
Status: Beta
Sony Online Entertainment studios in Seattle are developing this spy-themed MMORPG. You can be a elite secret agents for The United Nations Intelligence and Tactical Experts (U.N.I.T.E) or a mercenary for ramilitary Global Operations Network (ParaGON). (Who makes up these names?) This is not your typical MMORPG where you stand and fight. The combat is first person shooter so you will have to move around and shoot your guns. Also, headshots are part of this game so go brush up your Counter-Strike skills.
5. Stargate Worlds
Release: 4th Q, 2009
Status: Development
While the T.V. show is ending the MMORPG will be released to satisfy SG fans. While little information about the game is released they already planning a expansion to it. The game is said to be true to the show and have a fps combat style to it. Already they named some careers or class you can choose such as Asgard, Jaffa, Goa’uld, and others. If you are a fan of the series then you probably know what kind of classes are those. Even if you are not familiar with the series you should know there will be space ships, aliens, and lasers.
6. Free Realms
Release: Dec 2009
Status: Development
Sony must have a very busy year. Another Sony Online Entertainment mmorpg, but with a big twist from the usual MMORPGs. Lets say Facebook, Myspace, and some MMORPG elements are mixed together then you will have Free Realms. Social networking in the game is a big part of the game and players will be encouraged to play the game together regaurdless of the level or class of the players. Just picture a game where you can actually play with your parents. (scary yes, fun maybe)
7. Aion
Release: 2 Q, 2009
Status: Released in South Korea
Another MMORPG by NCsoft creators of the popular Lineage series. Already a hit in South Korea and having plans to bring it to the States. Aion combines player-vs-player and player-vs-environment in a fantasy dream setting. Probably the best feature for this game is the flight combat where players can battle in the air or attack players on the ground. Aion has already won the best Korean game of the year in 2008 so be ready for this MMORPG to hit it big everywhere.
8. Lego Universe
Release: 1st Q, 2009
Status: Development
Probably another kiddie MMORPG, but I must say I do love Legos. Being developed by NetDevil (not so kiddie there) the game lets you create your very own Lego people and puts you into a Lego world. While they announced that there will be no PvP (I would had loved to pit my lego warrior against another player) the game is for players to group up and complete different tasks in the Lego world. There is a leaked video of a demo of this game and I must say it was very very cool. Go check it out. If you don’t think its cool then you probably played with Megabloks.
9. FusionFall
Release:Fall, 2009
Status: Beta
Being developed by Cartoon Network and Grigon Entertainment. (wait Cartoon Network make games) FusionFall is a mission oriented game focusing on the missions and bosses. You can either solo or team up with players to tackle missions and beating bosses. It is said the game does not revolve around levels or experiences, but collecting Nanos from missions. Probably I’m more curious about this game rather then actually wanting to play it. Seem like a game to ease younger generations into the MMORPG world.
10. Warrior Epic
Release: 2nd Q, 2009
Status: Beta
Warrior Epic is developed by True Games Interactive and has already launched their beta. A online, action role-playing game set in an original fantasy universe, where player’s will assume command of a wide variety of Warriors through solo, PvP, and multiplayer dungeon raiding adventures. The best part of this is that its all free. Yup. No monthly fees or even have to purchase the game. The only thing it does charge for is special items like EXP potions, exclusive clothing, etc. The game does look pretty good for a free mmorpg. Since its free might as well try it out when it comes out this year.
Well there you have it my Top 10 MMORPGs for 2009 Oh and here is some MMORPG that gamers should be looking forward to also. They should be announcing these games in 2009.

Okay so much for RMT issues.. heheh lets cool it down and check this Rohan Frequently Asked Questions. I hoped newbies find this helpful and informative. here goes: (I'm currently playing as a dekan so I can answer most of the dekan related questions) :D
How many Skill Points can I have per level?
Standard skill point accumulation per level is 1.
How many Stat Points can I have per level?
Standard Stat Points accumulation per level is 4
What Class can transform into Dragon?
Its the Dekan Class (Evolve Skill)
What is the common build of Dekan Class?
The most common build is Vit build for Dragon Knights and Int Build for Dragon Sage.
Some said the max skill level is 5 but i saw a level 7 skill?
Default max is 5 but you can get some skills to lvl7 using skill enhancement stones.
Where can I get skill enhancement stones?
You can purchase it in the item mall or you can get it from monsters but it is extremely rare :D
so this is it for now.. and I'll let you guys ask me some questions or PingBox me and I'll try to answer all your questions as soon as possible :D
RMT stands for Real Money Trading. It's when you're selling your time in a game to level someone else's character for real money. Or you are selling accounts or ingame items for real money. At First all MMORPGs are against it and if you advertise the service for another company, you can get banned. If you shout it in general chat in-game or if you send emails, whether in-game or out of game, promoting the service...you will get banned.
But that is 5 years ago, it's still illegal in some way but MMORPG companies are slowly facing the reality that it cannot be helped, so they made a RMT feature ingame to make a profit to themselves later called "ITEM MALL".
What is Item Mall or Premium Shop?
Item Mall or Premium Shop is the answer of some MMORPG companies to battle user to user RMT. It is a shop that you can purchase ingame items in exchange of real money. But unlike user to user RMT or RMT companies, Item mall's prices are a bit pricey and has limited items only, so RMT is still standing and going strong at present.
RMT at present:
MMORPG Companies start to face reality that RMT cannot be eradicated as long as there are buyers who are willing to pay and buy virtual items from RMT companies, so some MMORPG unformally legalize it finally.
RMT at present is much rampant and stronger than ever, many companies invests in RMT business and some of it offers services like power levelling and even selling characters for the convenience of the players.
Thats it for now guy, ill just update and post some more when i got the time.
message me in my PingBox or leave a comment if you want something posted or you have questions! :D
